Febrero en Chile suele ser un mes de transición. Muchas familias aprovechan los últimos días de vacaciones de verano antes de volver a la rutina de comienzo de ciclo escolar y volver al trabajo. En la iglesia también se nota esta temporada más tranquila, con algunas familias fuera, pero con el mismo deseo de congregarnos cada domingo. En marzo retomaremos los discipulados y estamos animados por las nuevas familias que se han integrado en estas semanas. Tenemos planeado hacer bautizos en algún momento del año antes del invierno, que comienza en Junio.
Este mes también tuvimos el privilegio de compartir con nuestros amigos y hermanos de la Iglesia Calvary Chapel La Familia en la provincia de Ventanas. Hemos construido una relación muy estrecha con ellos, y en esta ocasión nos invitaron a participar en los primeros bautizos que tendrían como iglesia en el mar y tambien un concierto evangelístico que organizaron justo en frente de la playa, donde esta la iglesia.
Diez personas confesaron públicamente su fe a través del bautismo. Fue un momento muy emotivo verlos salir del agua con tanto gozo. Romi estuvo dirigiendo la alabanza durante los bautizos. Más tarde, durante el concierto algunas personas que estaban en la playa se acercaron a escuchar. Yo toque la batería en el concierto junto a Cesar el pastor que toca guitarra y canta igual que su esposa y Jose un amigo querido de esta iglesia. Al final, César me pidió dar el mensaje y hacer el llamado.
Dos personas, un joven adolescente y un señor de la tercera edad, ambos levantaron su mano y decidieron tomar la decisión de recibir a Jesus en su corazón. Nos dio tanta felicidad poder ser parte de todo esto.
En cuanto a la salud, Romi se ha sentido mucho mejor en estas semanas. Esto ha sido un alivio para nosotros como familia porque le ha permitido estar más estable en casa con sus actividades del día a día. Gracias por sus oraciones; realmente han sido importantes en este proceso.
También, tenemos la noticia que la próxima semana estaremos viajando a México por un par de semanas para visitar a nuestra familia y amigos, y atender algunos pendientes. No lo teníamos en nuestros planes, pero se dio en el momento justo. Aunque es extraño decir que “vamos de vacaciones” al lugar de donde somos, sentimos que será un tiempo necesario para recargar fuerzas y volver con animo para continuar trabajando en Chile, donde hoy estamos convencidos que debemos estar en este tiempo.
Estamos ya por cumplir un año viviendo en Santiago y con el tiempo hemos ido conociendo mejor la ciudad, sus sectores y su ritmo, al igual que la cultura y su gente.
Curiosamente, la comuna donde vivimos se llama Providencia, y para nosotros este lugar ha significado exactamente eso: provisión y dirección en el momento indicado.
En Mayo termina nuestro contrato de arriendo asi que para Abril hemos decidido buscar un nuevo lugar. Sabemos que será un mes muy movido de búsqueda y una mudanza para encontrar nuestro nuevo hogar.
Confiamos en que así como hasta ahora hemos visto la dirección clara en cada paso, también seguiremos viendo su cuidado y sabemos que nos dará sabiduría para esta nueva etapa.
Al igual que en este mes de Marzo se cumple ya un año que solicitamos el permiso de residencia temporal, el cual sigue aun en tramite y sin respuesta. Dicen que en promedio es el tiempo aproximado que tardan en responder pero igual esperamos poder obtener alguna noticia pronto.
PETICIONES DE ORACION:
- Por nuestro nuevo hogar, que el Señor nos de el lugar correcto de acuerdo a nuestras necesidades. Y que provea para lo que podamos llegar a necesitar para este cambio.
- Por la Iglesia, las familias y personas que están yendo cada Domingo.
- Por nuestros vecinos Ignacio y Elisa que han pasado momentos de dificultad, que Dios los sostenga y anime.
- Por los tramites y viaje a México, que igual podamos disfrutar del tiempo con nuestra familia y amigos.
- Sabiduría y dirección para retomar los discipulados en Marzo. Que nos de a los lideres y a los pastores gracia y dedicación para esta temporada.

February in Chile is usually a month of transition. Many families take advantage of the last days of summer vacation before returning to the routine of the new school year and going back to their work. At church, this quieter season is also noticeable, with some families being away, but with the same desire to gather every Sunday.
In March we will resume the discipleship groups, and we are encouraged by the new families who have joined in these past weeks. We are planning to hold baptisms at some point during the year before winter, which begins in June.
This month we also had the privilege of sharing with our friends from Calvary Chapel La Familia in the province of Ventanas. We have built a very close relationship with them, and on this occasion they invited us to participate in their first baptisms as a church in the beach, also holding an evangelistic concert organized right in front of the beach where the church is located.
Ten people publicly confessed their faith getting baptized. It was a very moving moment to see them come out of the water with such joy. Romi led worship during this time.
Later, during the concert, some people came closer to listen. I played the drums with the band along with Cesar, the pastor who plays guitar and sings, as well as his wife, and Jose, a dear friend from this church. At the end, Cesar asked me to share the message of the Gospel and make a calling for the people.
Two men, a teenage boy and an elderly man, both raised their hands and decided to receive Jesus into their hearts. We were so happy to witness all of this and also be a part of it.
Regarding Romi’s health, she has been feeling much better in these past weeks. This has been a relief for us as a family because it has let her to be more stable at home with her daily duties and activities. Thank you for your prayers; they have truly been important in this process.
We also have the news that next week we will be traveling to Mexico for a couple of weeks to visit our family and friends and also take care of some pending matters. It was not in our plans, but it happened at the right time. Although it feels strange to say that we are “going on vacation” to the place where we are from, we feel it will be a necessary time to recharge and return with renewed strength to continue working in Chile, where as of today we are certain is the place we are called to be in this season.
It’s been almost one year since we’ve been living in Santiago, and over time we have gotten to know the city better—its neighborhoods and its pace—as well as the culture and its people.
Interesting fact, the district where we live is called Providencia which means “Providence” in Spanish, so for us, this place has meant exactly that: provision and direction at the right time.
In May our rental contract ends, so by April we have decided to search for a new spot. We know it will be a very busy month of searching and moving in order to find our new home.
We trust that just as we’ve seen clear direction in every step so far, we will continue to see His continiuous care, and we pray He gives us wisdom for this new stage.
Likewise, this March marks one year since we applied for temporary residence, which is still in process and without a response. We’ve heard that this is the approximate the time it takes for them to respond, but we still hope to receive news soon.
PRAYER REQUESTS:
- For our new home, that the Lord would give us the right place that would fit our needs. And that He would provide for whatever we may need for this change.
- For the Church, the families, and the people who attend every Sunday, for them to be affirmed in Christ not on a Sunday service.
- For our neighbors Ignacio and Elisa, who have gone through difficult moments, that God would sustain and encourage them.
- For the paperwork and our trip to Mexico, that we may also enjoy our time with family and friends.
- Wisdom and direction as we resume the discipleship groups in March. That He would give the leaders and pastors grace and dedication for this season.
