Salmo 127:1
Comenzamos un nuevo año lleno de propósitos y metas. En este tiempo solemos implementar rutinas para mejorar nuestra manera de comer, administrar, ahorrar y vivir. Este Salmo nos recuerda que, aunque es bueno hacer planes, en cada decisión para el beneficio de nuestro hogar necesitamos confiar en que el Señor es quien prospera esos planes, porque Él es quien nos sostiene.
Salud y cuidado del Señor
Este año inició con circunstancias nuevas estar lejos de casa y de la familia añade un poco más de incertidumbre cuando atravesamos momentos difíciles. Sin embargo, como hemos visto en meses anteriores, el Señor no nos deja y siempre encuentra la manera de sorprendernos.
Durante las primeras semanas del año comenzaron a agravarse algunos problemas de salud que Romina ya venía presentando, los cuales le impedían realizar sus actividades normales. Debido al cansancio extremo, surgieron sospechas de anemia y también de temas hormonales. El Señor nos guió a realizar exámenes de sangre y a consultar con varios doctores para poder descartarlo.
En este proceso tuvimos que acudir en un par de ocasiones a urgencias en una clínica cercana a nuestro hogar, ya que Romina comenzó a presentar síntomas inusuales que nos preocuparon mucho. En la primera visita le recetaron un medicamento que lamentablemente le provocó una reacción alérgica, lo que nos llevó a regresar una segunda vez a urgencias. A pesar de realizarse más estudios, aún no se lograba identificar con claridad la causa de los síntomas.
El primer diagnóstico que recibimos fue un inicio de hipotiroidismo, ya que algunos niveles se encontraban altos, provocando el cansancio extremo. Posteriormente, se presentaron complicaciones que causaron una inflamación severa del colon, por lo que nos llevo a realizar un estudio del colon para descartar úlceras u otras afectaciones internas.
En medio de todo este proceso pudimos ver claramente el cuidado del Señor al rodearnos de doctores, hermanos, familia y amigos que, de una u otra manera, nos brindaron ánimo y apoyo en estos momentos.
Dios usó toda esta situación para traer a mi suegra a Chile. Ella decidió venir para acompañar a Romina estos días y el Señor puso todo para que pudiera estar con ella durante la colonoscopía, la cual, gracias a Dios, salió bien y no mostró daños internos que requirieran una intervención mayor.
Migración y provisión
Antes de recibir todas estas noticias, estábamos preparando una prórroga para permanecer otros 90 días en el país. No contábamos con que sería rechazada, lo que nos obligó a salir de Chile. A tan solo dos días de que venciera nuestro permiso, recibí un correo notificándome que no sería posible otorgar la prórroga porque al parecer solo se puede solicitar una vez y nosotros la solicitamos en Julio.
Tuvimos que salir al día siguiente hacia Mendoza, y una vez más el Señor mostró Su cuidado y amor, permitiéndonos salir y regresar sin ningún problema.
Ministerio y ánimo espiritual
Al día siguiente de nuestro regreso pudimos participar en una conferencia de matrimonios organizada por Calvary La Familia en Ventanas, con el pastor César y su esposa Ursula. Fuimos invitados a participar como iglesia: nuestro pastor Diego compartió el primer tema de la conferencia, y Romina y yo dirigimos un tiempo de alabanza.
Fue un tiempo que Dios usó para animarnos en medio de todo lo que estábamos viviendo como familia, y también una hermosa oportunidad para servir a nuestros hermanos de otra iglesia local.
Hemos visto un crecimiento significativo en los últimos meses en la iglesia Calvary La Familia, y pedimos oración para que Dios siga dando denuedo y amor al pastor César y a su esposa Úrsula, quienes fielmente están llevando el evangelio en la comunidad de Ventanas.
Relaciones y oportunidades
El Señor ha hecho grandes cosas y nos ha bendecido al ver lo que está haciendo en las personas a nuestro alrededor. En la carta anterior mencionamos a nuestros vecinos Nacho y Elisa, por quienes pedimos oración para tener más oportunidades de compartirles de Cristo. Con mucha alegría queremos contarles que Elisa ha comenzado a reunirse con Romina para estudiar un libro de la Biblia, y que próximamente desean asistir con nosotros a la iglesia. Confiamos en que Dios tiene un plan para sus vidas y nos da alegría poder ser parte de ese proceso.
Con Dan y el tema del TEA, hemos estado buscando espacios donde pueda convivir con otros niños y aprender a relacionarse. Dios ha abierto la puerta en un programa after school al que puede asistir algunos días a la semana. Oramos para que este tiempo sea de bendición para él y para que el Señor use este lugar para abrir nuevas oportunidades de conocer a otros chilenos y compartir el evangelio.
Motivos de oración
Gracias por estar al pendiente de nosotros a través de estas cartas. Les pedimos que nos acompañen en oración específicamente por:
- Que el Señor sostenga nuestra fe en medio de la adversidad.
- Provisión para cubrir los gastos de este mes, que fueron elevados debido a los temas médicos de Romina.
- Por la salud de Romina y que el diagnóstico de hipotiroidismo pueda revertirse con el tratamiento, si el Señor asi lo quiere.
- Sabiduría y guía para confirmar en la fe a las familias nuevas en la iglesia.
- Por sabiduría y dirección para Diego y Verena en los siguientes meses, que están al frente de nuestra Iglesia.
- Que pronto podamos obtener el permiso para permanecer en el país sin tener que salir cada 90 días.
- Por la salvación de Nacho y Elisa.
- Que el Señor nos dé denuedo para hablar de Él en los lugares donde nos ha puesto.
- Por la iglesia cristiana en Chile, para que haya mayor comunión entre las iglesias.

We begin a new year full of purposes and goals. During this time, we usually implement routines to improve the way we eat, manage, save, and live. This Psalm reminds us that, although it is good to make plans, in every decision for the benefit of our home we need to trust that the Lord is the One who prospers those plans, because He is the One who sustains us.
The Lord’s Health and Care
This year began with new circumstances; being far from home and family adds a bit more uncertainty when we go through difficult moments. However, as we have seen in previous months, the Lord does not leave us and always finds a way to surprise us.
During the first weeks of the year, some health issues that Romina had already been experiencing began to worsen, preventing her from carrying out her normal activities. Due to extreme fatigue, there were suspicions of anemia as well as hormonal issues. The Lord guided us to have blood tests done and to consult with several doctors in order to rule these out.
In this process, we had to go to the emergency room at a clinic near our home on a couple of occasions, as Romina began to present unusual symptoms that concerned us greatly. On the first visit, she was prescribed a medication that unfortunately caused an allergic reaction, which led us to return to the emergency room a second time. Despite undergoing more tests, the cause of the symptoms still could not be clearly identified.
The first diagnosis we received was the onset of hypothyroidism, since some levels were elevated, causing extreme fatigue. Later on, complications arose that caused severe inflammation of the colon, which led us to undergo a colon study to rule out ulcers or other internal conditions.
In the midst of all this process, we were able to clearly see the Lord’s care in surrounding us with doctors, brothers and sisters, family, and friends who, in one way or another, encouraged and supported us during these moments.
God used this whole situation to bring my mother-in-law to Chile. She decided to come to accompany Romina during these days, and the Lord made everything possible for her to be with her during the colonoscopy, which, thanks to God, went well and showed no internal damage requiring major intervention.
Migration and Provision
Before receiving all this news, we were preparing an extension to remain in the country for another 90 days. We did not expect it to be rejected, which forced us to leave Chile. Just two days before our permit expired, I received an email notifying me that it would not be possible to grant the extension because apparently it can only be requested once, and we had requested it in July.
We had to leave the next day for Mendoza, and once again the Lord showed His care and love, allowing us to leave and return without any problems.
Ministry and Spiritual Encouragement
The day after our return, we were able to participate in a marriage conference organized by Calvary La Familia in Ventanas, with Pastor César and his wife Úrsula. We were invited to participate as a church: our pastor Diego shared the first message of the conference, and Romina and I led a time of worship.
It was a time that God used to encourage us in the midst of everything we were going through as a family, and also a beautiful opportunity to serve our brothers and sisters from another local church.
We have seen significant growth in recent months at Calvary La Familia church, and we ask for prayer that God would continue to give boldness and love to Pastor César and his wife Úrsula, who are faithfully bringing the gospel to the Ventanas community.
Relationships and Opportunities
The Lord has done great things and has blessed us as we see what He is doing in the people around us. In the previous letter, we mentioned our neighbors Nacho and Elisa, for whom we asked prayer to have more opportunities to share Christ with them. With great joy, we want to tell you that Elisa has begun meeting with Romina to study a book of the Bible, and that they would like to attend church with us soon. We trust that God has a plan for their lives, and it brings us joy to be part of that process.
With Dan and the topic of ASD, we have been looking for spaces where he can interact with other children and learn to relate to them. God has opened the door to an after-school program that he can attend a few days a week. We pray that this time will be a blessing for him and that the Lord will use this place to open new opportunities to meet other Chileans and share the gospel.
