Quemando Barcos
Es una expresión que significa “tomar una decisión irreversible o comprometerse completamente con un objetivo, sin posibilidad de regresar o retroceder”
Nunca pensamos que fuera a ser tan literal esta expresión, hasta que se incendió la casa en donde estuvimos viviendo los últimos 4 años.
El 5 de diciembre de 2024, justo dos días antes de partir a un viaje exploratorio a Chile sucedió este acontecimiento que nos marcó y nos dio confirmación también en la decisión de poder dejar todo para extendernos a la agenda que Dios tenía en Chile.
Así comenzó esta aventura que iniciamos como familia en este mes de Abril 2025. Pero no todo fue como esperábamos, ya que esto significaría dejar bastantes cosas en Ciudad de México y hacer preparativos para planear estar 2 años como mínimo en Chile, sabiendo que Dios se encargaría de marcar el tiempo que estaríamos en este país.
¿Por qué Chile? ¿Y por qué nosotros?
Romina y yo estuvimos desde antes de casarnos participando en varias misiones por separado, y cuando nos casamos sabíamos que el Señor podría usar este anhelo por servir en otra cultura, dando testimonio de como Cristo es suficiente.
Chile nunca había estado en nuestro radar y no conocíamos nada de este país a pesar de ya haber hecho varios viajes misioneros dentro de la república mexicana, Asia, Africa y algunos países de Latinoamérica.
El 3 de Septiembre del 2023 pudimos compartir con Diego (pastor actual de Awaken Santiago) nuestro anhelo de poder ir con ellos a comenzar la Iglesia en Santiago. Esa fecha fue importante porque para llegar a esa decisión pasaron un par de meses en donde el Señor estaba ajustando cosas en nuestra familia y en nuestras prioridades.
Sin duda en ese momento nos dimos cuenta que Dios es el que da la fe no solo para ser salvos, sino para creer que Él es fiel.
Muchas veces uno piensa que cuando respondes “heme aquí, envíame a mi” Dios actúa de la forma que uno cree, pero no es así. Dios comienza en el corazón.

Burning the Ships
It's an expression that means "to make an irreversible decision or fully commit to a goal, with no possibility of turning back."
We never thought this phrase would become so literal—until the house we had been living in for the past four years caught fire.
On December 5th, 2024—just two days before we were scheduled to leave on an exploratory trip to Chile—this life-altering event happened. It not only marked us deeply, but also confirmed our decision to leave everything behind in order to pursue the agenda God had for us in Chile.
That’s how this new adventure began for our family in April 2025. But things didn’t unfold exactly as we had expected. This step meant leaving many things behind in Mexico City and preparing to spend at least two years in Chile, trusting that God would be the one to define how long we would remain in that nation.
Why Chile? And why us?
Romina and I had both been involved in missions separately even before we got married, and once we were married, we knew the Lord might one day use our shared desire to serve in a different culture—testifying that Christ is enough.
Chile had never been on our radar. We knew almost nothing about the country, even though we had already participated in several mission trips within Mexico, as well as to Asia, Africa, and other parts of Latin America.
On September 3rd, 2023, we shared with Diego (the current pastor of Awaken Santiago) our desire to join their team in launching the church in Santiago. That date was significant, because reaching that decision came after months during which the Lord was adjusting things in our family and reshaping our priorities.
We realized clearly in that moment that God not only gives us faith to be saved—but also faith to believe that He is faithful.
"Many times we think that when we respond, 'Here I am, send me,' God will act in the way we expect—but that's not the case. God begins in the heart."
